W-WAC Festa Spawns Fun, Connections, Scholarship Funds
Expectations of sharing an Italian feast in the company of friends and others, who value the commitment of the Westlake-Westshore Arts Council to promote art for the future, drew enough people to fill Daddona’s Fine Italian Restaurant for the second annual “Festa di Primavera” on April 27.
Conversation, laughter and good food were seasoned with raffles and auctions of unique and artistic items that drew interest and friendly competition. But the primary benefactor was the WWAC arts scholarship fund. The proceeds from the group’s 30th Anniversary Year fundraiser benefit the Council’s Student Arts Scholarship Endowment Fund.
Betty Lou Curatolo, WWAC 1st vice president, said this year’s event placed the group about 65 percent toward the $10,000 goal. When the scholarship fund was created, the WWAC stated, “The first goal of the W-WAC Arts Scholarship fund is to raise the $10,000 necessary to endow the project, so that it can be administered, promoted and managed by the Cleveland Foundation. Once that amount of capital is raised, the W-WAC can begin awarding yearly scholarships at the board’s discretion.”
The WWAC’s goal of funding monetary scholarships for students pursuing a higher education in the arts is the focus of their 30th anniversary year. Anyone interested in contributing to the WWAC Student Arts Scholarship Endowment Fund can mail contributions of any amount to Westlake-Westshore Arts Council, P.O. Box 45189, Westlake, OH, 44145.
